Our Love story

Sam and Priya’s story began in New Delhi, where their families had shared roots and friendships for generations. But when they first met—he was 19, she just 13—there were no sparks. She was too young, he was too grown-up (for her), and romance was nowhere in sight.
Years later, well-meaning relatives floated the idea of marriage. Their initial reaction- a resounding no! They still thought of each other as 19 and 13 year olds. Photographs were exchanged. Now, she was 19 and he was 25 and they agreed to meet. They genuinely liked each other in their first meeting—but by the second meeting, they were convinced they were meant for different paths.
Until one evening changed everything.
Sam’s family asked to meet Priya. That night, under the soft glow of live Hindi music and a sky full of possibility, something magical happened. Words were few, but their eyes spoke volumes. It was straight out of a Bollywood scene—filmy, emotional, unforgettable.
By morning, there was a Roka ceremony. A week later, an engagement. Seven months after that, a big, fat, Indian wedding. But wait….how did Sam propose Priya?! Well, he never did!! Their love story simply unfolded organically and beautifully.
Sam had just begun his medical residency in Houston. Priya was finishing her second year of college. In 2001, she moved to Houston. Sam worked grueling 72-hour shifts. She studied, supported him, and together they built a foundation of love, respect, and mutual admiration.
They traveled the world for six glorious years collecting memories and building dreams, before welcoming their first child, Shreya. Dev followed soon after, and then came Jai—completing their trio of joy. Life became a whirlwind of diapers, school runs, and bedtime stories. Priya stepped away from her career to raise their children, while Sam worked tirelessly to support the family.
Today, Sam is the Director of Electrophysiology at a thriving medical practice. Priya is the CEO of an engineering firm. Shreya is in her second year of college at Rice University, Dev is wrapping up his senior year of high school, and Jai is a sophomore.
Through every twist and turn, challenge and triumph, they’ve stood side by side. Twenty-five years have flown by in a heartbeat—and they’re just getting started.
